    Honey Roasted Mixed Nuts

Honey roasted mixed nuts are an easy snack recipe I make with nuts, honey, butter, brown sugar, salt, and cayenne pepper. I bake them in the oven until golden and crunchy for a sweet, salty, and lightly spicy snack that is ready in just 25 minutes.

    Honey Roasted Mixed Nuts

This crunchy, sweet, and salty snack is flavored with honey and brown sugar for sweetness, salt for balance, and cayenne pepper for a slightly spicy kick.

They make lovely homemade gifts during the holidays, especially when packed in a small jar or a treat bag.

I recommend serve these as snacks, or pack them as part of a lunch meal for your daughter. I also recommend using them as toppings for chia pudding, granola, or oatmeal.

    You'll Need

Full information on ingredients and quantities is in the recipe card at the end of the post.

    • Butter: I use unsalted butter so as not to add any more saltiness to the ingredients.
    • Honey: You can use your favorite honey brands. Whether you prefer raw or processed, each type of honey will still lend great flavors to this recipe.
    • Mixed nuts: I use raw, unsalted nuts. You can opt to buy mixed nuts that are pre-packaged together, or you can buy them separately. I use almonds, walnuts, pistachios and cashews.
    • Cayenne pepper: Cayenne adds that little “oomph” to the recipe. It adds just a gentle spicy kick without overpowering the sweet and salty flavor.
    • Brown sugar: It adds a bit of additional sweetening to the nuts.
    • Sea salt: It balances out the sweetness of the honey and sugar.

How to Make Honey Roasted Mixed Nuts

One: Preheat your oven to 150 C / 300 F, and also, line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.

Tip: Roast nuts at a low temperature to ensure that they roast evenly and you don’t burn them.

In a saucepan, melt both butter and honey over low heat.

Two: In a saucepan, melt both butter and honey over low heat, stirring frequently with a wooden spoon until mixed.

Tip: Melt butter and honey on low heat; using higher heat might burn the butter.

Stir in the nuts and cayenne pepper.

Three: Stir in the nuts and cayenne pepper (make sure the nuts are evenly coated).

Spread all the nuts onto the baking sheet in a single layer and bake.

Four: Now, spread all the nuts onto the baking sheet in a single layer.

Five: Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes until the nuts are golden brown.

Six: Remove from the oven and sprinkle with salt and brown sugar.

Seven: Let the nuts cool down for 1-2 hours, then transfer them to an airtight container.

Tip: Letting the nuts cool completely is really important. They may feel a little sticky when they first come out of the oven, but once they cool, the coating firms up and becomes crunchy.

Storage: These nuts don’t need to be stored in the fridge. Just keep them in an air-tight container so they do not lose their crunch.
