Honey Butter Salmon Recipe
For me, there's something irresistible about sweet and savory salmon recipes! I cook salmon twice a week for my family, and this has become their favorite recipe so far.
The texture and flavor of this recipe are AMAZING!
The salmon glaze is the key to this recipe; it's absolutely delicious and perfectly balanced. It is sweet, tangy, rich and savory!
I even reserve some of the glaze to brush on the top of the salmon after baking; it creates a shiny, delicious layer.
You'll Need
Complete information on ingredients and quantities is in the recipe card at the end of the post.
Salmon fillets: I use fresh salmon fillets, which weigh about 140 g each. I also like to Keep the skin on the salmon because it provides a layer between the salmon and the pan.
Tip: I prefer fresh salmon because it has a richer flavor. However, this recipe works well with frozen salmon; just thaw it and pat it dry before using.
Butter: It adds richness to this dish. You can replace it with olive oil or sesame oil.
Soy sauce: Use low-sodium soy sauce if you prefer a dish that is less salty.
Black pepper: I season the salmon with just black pepper.
Other ingredients: I use fresh garlic, lemon juice and honey.
Step-By-Step Instructions
One: Preheat oven to 200°C/400°F. Make sure to line a baking pan with parchment pepper to avoid the dish from sticking to the middle of the pan.
Two: In a small saucepan, heat the butter and add the garlic; cook for 1 minute medium-high heat or until the garlic is brown.
Three: Add honey, soy sauce, lemon juice, and black pepper. Bring to a boil, simmer for about 3 minutes, and then turn off the heat.
Four: Now, place the salmon fillets on the baking sheet (skin side down), and spoon the honey glaze all over the salmon fillets (reserve some for topping).
Tip: I usually take the salmon out of the fridge 30 minutes before making the recipe just to reach room temperature, which allows even baking.
Five: Cover the baking pan tightly with aluminum foil sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes and then uncover the baking pan and bake for 5 minutes more (This step adds a crispy finish to this dish).
Tip: Remember, Overcooked salmon can become dry. So, watch it carefully.
Six: Brush the salmon fillets with the remaining sauce glaze, then serve!
Helpful Tips
- If you have salmon fillets that are smaller in size, reduce the bake time by ten minutes and check if it’s done. If the fillet is still undercooked, you can pop it in the oven for another 2 to 3 minutes.
- Salmon is cooked when the flesh flakes off easily. You can do this by gently pressing your salmon fillet with a fork.
