I'm a big fan of milk desserts, especially milk pudding! Today, I share my easy recipe for this super creamy dessert.
I assure you this milk pudding recipe is simple and made with just 4 ingredients. I hope you like it as much as I do.
Milk Pudding
I used to make this recipe every time I needed an easy and quick dessert. I usually garnished it with whatever I had in my pantry, sometimes chopped nuts, ground cinnamon, coconut flakes or rose petals, as today.
I also use it in making recipes such as Kunafa Dessert and Galaktoboureko - Greek Custard Pie.
You'll Need
Here is an overview of what ingredients you need to make this dessert. The complete ingredient information and quantities are in the recipe card at the end of the post.
- Milk: I use full-fat milk for a super rich and creamy dessert.
- Cornstarch: It is important to thicken the pudding.
- Sugar: I add 60 g of granulated sugar, but if you have a sweet tooth, I recommend increasing the amount to 70 g.
- Vanilla extract: To add some flavor. You may use rose water or almond extract instead.
- Toppings (optional): I garnished my dessert with rose petals. You may top it with fresh fruit, ground cinnamon, or a whipped cream dollop.
How To Make Milk Pudding
First, you need to know that this pudding needs to chill in the fridge to set for at least 2-3 hours before serving.
Now, let's break down the process:
One: In a saucepan, add milk, sugar, and cornstarch and cook on medium heat (stirring constantly) until the mixture thickens.
Tip: Make sure to mix the cornstarch so well so that there aren't any lumps.
Tip: Stir the mixture constantly while cooking to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pot and burning.
Two: Turn off the heat, add the vanilla extract, stir the mixture, pour it into 3 small bowls or glasses, and let them cool for about 10 minutes.
Three: Then sprinkle the rose petals on top and put them in the fridge for at least 3 hours to set.
Tips for Perfect Milk Pudding
- Use full-fat milk for a creamier texture and richer flavor.
- While cooking, stir the mixture consistently over medium heat to have a smooth, creamy pudding.
- Allow 2-3 hours for the pudding to chill in the fridge. It is so important to let the pudding set.
- If you don't like this thick skin layer that forms on the surface of the pudding as it cools, just put a piece of plastic wrap directly on the surface of the pudding before refrigerating.
