Pepper Steak Recipe
This beef stir-fry dish is SUPER simple, flavorful, and and perfect for lunch or dinner. Tender strips of steak stir-fried with bell peppers in a savory sauce that's SUPER DELICIOUS!
First, you need to choose THE BEST cut of meat for this recipe; this step is key to a juicy and tender stir-fry steak dish. I prefer Sirloin because it is lean and absorbs the marinade well. I slice it thinly to cook faster.
I marinate the steak for 30-45 minutes, which is incredibly important. Trust me, it enhances the flavor of this dish significantly!
My secret to the best steak and peppers dish ever is adding 1 or 2 sprigs of fresh rosemary; they add an incredibly delicious flavor.
You'll Need
Here is an overview of all the ingredients I used to make this dish. The quantities are in the recipe card.
Steak: I use sirloin steak sliced into strips.
Pepper: I use bell peppers because they are colorful and sweet. However, feel free to use your favorite pepper, such as Banana Peppers, Sichuan Peppercorns, Habanero, or Poblano.
Onion and garlic: They enhance the flavor of this dish. I use a large sliced onion and about 3 crushed cloves of garlic.
Salt and black pepper: To taste.
Fresh rosemary: I love adding fresh rosemary to flavor any steak dish. They go well together.
Beef broth : I use low sodium.
Soy sauce: Also low sodium.
Sesame oil: it adds a little bit of nutty flavor.
Cornstarch: To thicken the sauce.
Sesame seeds: This is optional; just to garnish the dish.
How To Make The Recipe
One: Cut the beef into thin strips and add them to a large bowl.
Two: Add crushed garlic, soy sauce, onion, salt, pepper, and rosemary to the steak and leave it to marinate for 30 minutes.
Three: Heat the sesame oil over medium heat in a large skillet. Add the beef strips with the marinade and cook for 2-3 minutes.
Tip: Don't add the beef until the oil is hot.
Four: Then add the bell pepper, beef broth, and cornstarch and cook for 4-5 minutes until the sauce is thickened.
Five: Garnish with sesame seeds, and serve warm.
Tip: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge and reheat on the stove top or microwave.
