Om Ali is the Middle Eastern version of bread pudding! A pastry soaked in milk loaded with nuts and topped with whipped cream. You can serve it warm or cold.

390gpuff pastry sheet
4cupsfull fat milk
⅓cupgranulated sugar
1teaspoonvanilla extract
1cupheavy cream
⅓cupalmonds, coarsely chopped
⅓cupwalnuts, coarsely chopped
¼cupraisins
¼cupshredded coconut
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 200C / 390F and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
In a small bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peak forms and then put in the fridge until needed.

Unroll the puff pastry sheet and place it into the baking tray.

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown. Then, allow to cool.
Cut the puff pastry into small pieces and put in an oven-safe baking dish, and add in the nuts.
⅓ cup almonds, ⅓ cup walnuts, ¼ cup raisins, ¼ cup shredded coconut
In a medium saucepan, over medium-high heat, add milk, vanilla extract and sugar, stir together until the sugar dissolves, and then bring to a boil.
4 cups full fat milk, ⅓ cup granulated sugar, 1 tsp vanilla extract
Pour the milk over the pastry, cover and leave it for 10-15 minutes to absorb the milk.
Evenly spread the whipped cream on top and bake in the oven for 20-30 minutes until bubbling and the top is golden brown. Serve immediately.
Notes
You can make this dish without nuts, but they add a lovely crunch and make the dessert more delicious.
